An important Classical birdseye maple veneer sewing box featuring a history of ownership by Maria Gansevoort Melville (b.1791), the mother of the author Herman Melville (1819-1891).
New England, probably Boston or Coastal Massachusetts.
Dated October 1814.
Birdseye maple veneer on pine, figured maple cross banding, mahogany or walnut inlaid stringing with a mahogany, leather and bone interior.  The secondary wood is pine throughout.

Pair of bannister  back side chairs with rush seats.  One with old black paint and the second with brown grain painted surface.

A Federal mahogany veneer sideboard featuring oval inlay decoration, serpentine apron and straight tapered legs.  
Attributed to Thomas Howard, Jr. (1774 - 1833) of Pawtuxet and Providence, Rhode Island, 1795 - 1805.
Mahogany veneer on Eastern White Pine, assorted light and dark wood inlay, with Eastern White Pine secondary wood.

Queen Anne cherry and applewood tilt top candlestand with unusual box drawer. Connecticut River Valley, 1770-1795. In fine condition with all original construction and an old refinish.
Federal mahogany and satinwood inlaid bow front server.  North Shore Massachusetts or Coastal New Hampshire,  1780 - 1810.
Queen Anne tilt top candlestand featuring an oval top and retaining the original red wash surface.  Connecticut River Valley, 1780 - 1805.
Chippendale cherry serpentine front chest featuring an undermolded top and fluted quarter columns. New London County, Connecticut, 1780-1805. In fine condition retaining an old or origianl surface with excellent color and patina. The cast bail brass hardware is period replacements.
A rare and important Chippendale cherry chest of drawers featuring finely carved ball and claw feet applied with cross braced construction. Litchfield, Connecticut, 1780 - 1805. In fine condition with original construction throughout and retaining full height to the ball and claw feet.
A rare Federal figured maple card table featuring a half round top and straight tapered legs. New England, possibly Rhode Island, 1790 - 1815. In fine condition featuring an old refinished surface showing good color and a soft patina.  THIS ITEM HAS BEEN SOLD.
Queen Anne mahogany drop leaf table with straight turned legs and pad feet. Goddard-Townsend School, Newport, R.I. 1760-1785. In excellent condition with original construction throughout.  THIS ITEM HAS BEEN SOLD.
A rare and important Chippendale mahogany dwarf clock featuring an eight day brass time and strike movement. Signed by the maker John Bailey II (active 1770 -1820) New Bedford, Massachusetts, 1775 - 1800. Mahogany and Mahogany veneer on Eastern White Pine, with Eastern White Pine secondary wood. In original condition with only a few areas of restoration on dial.
