A rare and important Dressed Miniature Portrait showing a Woman in a White Dress,  with a Watercolor on Ivory showing a Classical Woman fishing on the reverse.  THIS ITEM HAS BEEN SOLD.
Attributed to Mary Way (1769-1833) of New London, Connecticut and New York City.
Dressed Miniature featuring watercolor on paper and silk fabric, with a watercolor on ivory Classical scene on the reverse with eglomese decorated glass matte.
Both held in the original oval gold frame with the original beveled glass front and back.

Dimensions:  outside - 3 1/8” x 2 1/2”

An important Classical birdseye maple veneer sewing box featuring a history of ownership by Maria Gansevoort Melville (b.1791), the mother of the author Herman Melville (1819-1891).
New England, probably Boston or Coastal Massachusetts.
Dated October 1814.
Birdseye maple veneer on pine, figured maple cross banding, mahogany or walnut inlaid stringing with a mahogany, leather and bone interior.  The secondary wood is pine throughout.

Dimensions:  height - 5 1/2”, width - 14 1/4”, depth - 10 1/4”
A miniature Classical mahogany chest of drawers featuring gilt brass hardware and an inscription of “S.L. Torrey, June 1830.”
Massachusetts, possibly Worcester area, 1825 - 1835.
Mahogany with eastern white pine secondary wood.

Dimensions:  height - 11”, width of top - 11 3/4”, depth of top - 6 1/2”
Assembled set of nine Queen Anne walnut side chairs featuring balloon seats and cabriole legs.
Boston, Massachusetts
1745-1770.
In fine condition with excellent color and patina.  Various minor repairs and a few replaced knee returns.

Matched set of five Chippendale walnut dinning chairs with “owl eye” splats.   Massachusetts, 1750-1780.
Original construction.  Reupholstered in Russia leather.
Pair of Gouache on paper paintings of Naples Bay with Mount Vesuvius erupting in the background.  English or American, 1845-1870.
In fine condition showing normal wear and age throughout.  Retaining the original molded and gilt wood frames.
Queen Anne maple blanket chest over three drawers.  Base with cyma scrolled apron.
Chest retains the original red wash surface
and color.   Signed on reverse by Abijah Chapin, AD, 1766.   Probably Connecticut origin or Connecticut River Valley.
