A pair of miniature Chippendale mahogany and birdseye maple footstools featuring a rectangular mahogany top with a rounded edge over a conforming birdseye maple frame. The frame sides feature a beaded lower edge and reversing cyma curve ends. The frame sides are joined to the splayed and scrolled ends that continue into the straight feet. New England, 1780 – 1815. Mahogany and birdseye maple.
What makes them special? At just over 8 inches long and 3 inches high, these miniature footstools are certain to spark conversations – like whatever possessed an obviously highly skilled cabinetmaker to create, of all things, perfect little footstools?
