Engraved civil war powderhorn, possible Southern, with a history of the Stanton-Davis family of Stonington, CT. Includes the initials W.N.W. and unusual depictions of people and animals, including a perturbed looking crockodile, a wolf riding an animal (a yak perhaps) and a bowsman carrying his quarry, apparently dripping red blood from its mouth. American, 1850-1875.
