Queen Anne walnut highboy featuring a carved fan in the lower case, a fine historic surface, original brasses and unusual hidden drawers inside upper case. New London County, Connecticut or South County, Rhode Island, 1755 – 1780.

This highboy descended in the family of John Maxon (1725-1791) and Sarah Burdick Maxson (1725-1812), who were married in Hopkinton, Rhode Island in 1746. It was owned in the late 19th century by members of the Brooks family, including two brothers Ezekiel Rogers Brooks (1825-1908) and Ephriam Rogers Brooks (1825-1908), the twin sons of Daniel Brooks (1789-1850) and Nancy Rogers Brooks (1788-1872) of Waterford, Connecticut. According to family tradition, the brothers continued to fish in the same rowboat although after a family feud they did not speak with each other.
