Watercolor of St. George River at Thomaston, Maine, signed lower left by Charles Copeland and dated 1889. The artist worked in both Boston, Massachusetts and Thomaston, Maine. Shown in the painting is a scow schooner carrying pulpwood down river to the lime kilns at Thomaston. In the background is the Old Creighton Farm, which still stands today. The painting descended in the Copeland family and was acquired from his great grandaugher.
