Home/Furniture/Child’s Windsor Red and Black Paint Decorated Armchair

Description

NLS010822.8

Child’s Windsor red and black paint decorated maple armchair featuring a step down crest rail and a fine paint decorated surface.  Branded under the seat by Josiah Magowin, active 1805-1815, of Eastern Massachusetts.

Tell me more: The shaped saddle seat is branded underneath by the maker, “Magowin”, with the initials “N.T.” added as a prefix.  The chair appears to have been made for his own son.
